Lady Shirley

Peter named his aircraft "Lady Shirley" after his wife. Four of his  Hurricanes were written off  and he ended with "Lady Shirley mk V".  "Lady Shirley" was again painted on his new Spitfire a few weeks before his fatal flight.

"Lady Shirley mk IV" :      Hurricane II b        283   Shot up in dog fight cat.2, 01/09/1942, Peter wounded 

"Lady Shirley mk V"  :      Hurricane II b        968   Exchanged for Spitfire

"Lady Shirley"           :      Spitfire V c          ER168 Shot down and lost over med, Peter killed  13/12/1942

Log book 27 June 1942:" "Lady Shirley" completely U/S. Albacore landed on top of her. Her end too -. Burnt that morning with Albacore when we left in a hurry from LG."
