A surprise visit was made to No. 1 squadron by a contingent of high ranking staff on 28 July 1942. This was after the recent successes of 1 sqdn. The OC Major Lemmie Le Mesurier was wounded and in hospital at this time. Peter was acting OC of 1 sqdn. The visiting staff:
